Work

V. Wright has worked in game development for more than 14 years, as a freelance developer and as a developer on mainstream game projects. He has made and released games on itch.io, and founded Veilwright Studio in 2026.

He has also written about adult games as a freelancer, and works with research and data. That background is what the studio’s Journal is built on.

His goal is to raise the standard of mature interactive media: storytelling at the quality of the largest mainstream productions, complex narratives that branch with the player’s behaviour and choices and carry real consequences, and new mechanics that break the mould.

What he does best

As a developer, he considers branching logic his strongest skill, together with relationship writing that builds slowly and feels natural.

On the technical and production side, he has worked on projects built with Unreal Engine 5, Unity and Ren’Py, with Daz 3D and Maya for 3D work.

Where he thinks adult games should go

V. Wright thinks adult games are ready to leave the beaten path. In his view the field has leaned too long on simplistic design, comic relief and low-quality, short-term gratification, and it is time for a period in which adult games compete with mainstream games on quality and art direction. Veilwright Studio exists to make that case with its own work.

Production standards

He approaches legislation, regulation, platform policies and content compliance with great care, and treats that work as part of making a game ethically. The studio’s standards set out what it commits to in public.

As a player

He has played adult games for more than 17 years. The titles he has played include the Rance series, Senren*Banka, Muv-Luv, Wild Life and Crush Crush, which between them cover strategy role-playing games, visual novels, a 3D open-world game and an idle game.

Training

He completed Gamification, an online course taught by Professor Kevin Werbach of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. The course studies why people keep playing: how points, levels and rewards shape motivation, when they stop working, and where engagement becomes manipulation.
